ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (forskarassistent) in Plant Food Science, especially development of biomarkers for whole grain intake
The mission of our research is to provide reliable information on food and its different qualities through the entire food chain, taking an overall perspective from food raw materials to human nutrition for the benefit of consumers, nutritionists, food producers, government authorities and other stakeholders. The research is focused around food for health, functionality and technological quality, and food analysis.
Research area:
As part of the Nordic Centre of Excellence Program on Food, Nutrition and Health, co-financed by NordForsk and the National Research Councils, the Department of Food Science has obtained funding for a 5-year Nordic collaborative project: Nordic Health – whole grain food (HELGA) (
http://www.nordforsk.org/text.cfm?id=338) . Our task in the project includes development of methods for analysis of biomarkers of whole grain cereals in food and biological samples and use of these biomarkers in intervention and bio bank studies.
Duties: The primary duty of an Assistant Professor at the Faculty is to develop the science within the subject area. An Assistant Professor will also be expected to contribute to the education of students at the faculty.
Eligibility: Applicants should have a PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Priority will be given to applicants who have been awarded their PhD degree at most five years before the last date for applications.
Assessment criteria: Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications within the subject area. Skills in dissemination of results are also important assessment criteria.
The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of four years, starting as soon as possible.

The following documents should be included with each application: CV including a publication list, PhD diploma, copies of no more than five publications, a description of previous research and other activities of relevance for the position (maximum two pages), and a description of planned research that the applicant intends to carry out within this position (maximum two pages). Names and addresses of at least two persons able to provide references for the candidate should also be provided.
