EA has a vacant position for an outstanding Level Artist. Creating visually stunning, immersive games is an art that takes a tremendous amount of skill and talent. The art teams in EA handle a vast range of different work tasks like creating the visual elements of a game, including characters, scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures, clothing, and even user interface components. Others bring the game to life with animation, lighting and visual effects and draw the gamer into an engrossing experience where they can suspend disbelief and emotionally connect with the game and enjoy the ride. Some games go for a look that?s as realistic as possible, while others aim for a more stylized or fantastical look. The look of a game is one of the most significant factors contributing to the overall success of the game.
As a Level Artist you will build the worlds (both indoor and outdoor) in-game and be responsible for building the geometry of 3D spaces and components, especially organic and inorganic environments. This is a key role in the making of our game. It?s usually the Level Artist?s artwork that gets the initial ?wow? when a gamer first enters the game world. Level Artists may construct physical form studies or physical models as necessary. These models may be built based on art from concept drawings and/or photographs that are efficient and to scale.
The best Level Artists tend to have solid technical knowledge and skills and are able to push a programmer to generate new innovative looks, lighting, and moods in their levels. They are also flexible to change and able to modify their work if it will result in improving the overall ambiance of the world they?re creating. They do a lot of work in 3D art packages, custom level layout tools, and in texture artwork packages like Photoshop.
What skills does EA look for?
EA is looking for a Level Artist with a passion for building new and innovative worlds. You should also have good experience using 3D software such as Maya and Lightwave, as well as the ability to think in 3D.
We are looking for that special artist who can demonstrate the following in their portfolio:
Drawings/sketches that display basic skills as well as any modeling and texture work related to objects, buildings, natural terrain, etc.
• Excellent sense of form, weight (mass), and volume
• Good use of light and shadow
• Breadth of artistic styles
• An understanding of optimization
• Excellent sense of scale and level of finish
