Active Safety CAE - 2 positions

Vehicle Dynamics & Active Safety Centre is a department within Active Safety & Chassis responsible for the development and verification of Vehicle Dynamics & Active Safety Functions. Active Safety CAE section supports the development of Active Safety at Volvo Cars through computer-aided engineering (CAE).

There are two (2) openings for CAE engineers Active Safety. Virtual development and verification referred often as CAE is currently strongly promoted at Volvo as the most efficient way to develop new vehicles. Active Safety is a relative new area where we use state-of-the-art engineering methods and components. A combination of CAE and Active safety creates great opportunities for personal development. There is currently 23 engineers supporting vehicle programs and developing new methods and tools as well as participate in national and international advanced engineering projects in order to improve Active Safety and CAE development. We are supporting all traditional Active Safety areas (Collition Avoidance, Normal driving Support, Autonomous Drive etc.) but also areas related to dynamic Active Safety where Vehicle Dynamics knowledge is essential.

Main responsibilities

• Project related work (simulations, analysis of results and recommendations)
• Model development and validation of models
• Project meetings and reporting of ongoing project work
• Method and tool development
• Participation in advanced engineering assignments

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. in Applied Physics, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Systems & Control Mechatronics or equivalent, with emphasis in analytical work
• Meritorious: Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Systems & Control Mechatronics or equivalent, with emphasis in analytical work
• Proficient in modeling using MATLAB, Simulink
• Experience and/or formal education in Vehicle Dynamics (dynamic Active Safety)
• Working experience as CAE engineer
• Project Management skills
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Good knowledge in Swedish
• Meritorious: CAE experience in the field of Active Safety and/or Vehicle Dynamics
• Meritorious: IPG CARMAKER, ADAMS, VI-CarRealTime or similar software (dynamic Active Safety)
• Meritorious: Work experience with 3ds Max, Maxscript or similar
• Meritorious: Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Image Analysis, Machine Learning
