Ingress and background:
If you are looking for a dynamic work environment in which to do your thesis, Scania Production System aims to work with continuous improvements of the production system to make it more effective and efficient. Currently, automation, digitalization and the smart factory concept is seen as the fourth industrial revolution.
Scania aspires to be at the forefront of technological advancement and industrial trends and has made several initiatives within the automation and the digitalization area. Where will you be? Global Industrial Development is responsible for developing and maintaining Scania's common core competence within production engineering. Global Industrial Engineering develops work methods and tools to implement them in the production line.
Target and assignments:
Scania's Global Industrial Development has a Smart Factory Lab Team where new techniques are adapted, evaluated, demonstrated and implemented. Within this area we have a number of possible topic proposals:
• Automation on a continuous driven line
• Flexible automation
• AR to secure quality and provide work instructions.
• Computer vision for quality inspection
• Predicting and prescribing future using machine learning
• Sustainable dashboard for following up energy, water and waste
• Connected sensors for controlling production
• Fleet management system for AGVs
• Drone based automation
• Knowledge Graph based integration
• Computer vision based motion capture system
• User interface and smart wearables
• Additive manufacturing
• Cyber security in industrial environments
• Bio-based packaging materials
We are looking for a number of students to collaborate with us. Do you have another idea? Projects may also be initiated by you, so we welcome suggestions. Please indicate your interest area in the cover letter.
