We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.
We now want to employ Welder Foremans. The work tasks may include but are not limited to:
Job Description
The Welder Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating welding activities on site or in fabrication facilities. The role involves leading a team of welders, ensuring welding operations are performed according to engineering drawings, welding procedures, and project specifications. The Welder Foreman ensures that welding work meets quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the welding team, including welders and welding helpers.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Oversee welding operations including 141 Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding and/or 111 Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA / SMAW) on pipes, metal structures, and mechanical components in various welding positions.
• Ensure proper setup and operation of welding machines, tools, and related equipment according to project requirements.
• Monitor preparation of metal surfaces including cleaning, grinding, cutting, and fitting prior to welding.
• Ensure weld quality by conducting visual inspections and coordinating required quality checks to achieve defect-free welds.
• Supervise repair, modification, and maintenance of welded structures to ensure durability and compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate closely with fabricators, piping fitters, inspectors, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
• Ensure welding activities comply with approved welding procedures, industry standards, and project quality requirements.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures related to welding operations, including proper handling of welding equipment, gases, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Monitor team productivity, allocate tasks, and ensure welding work progresses according to project schedules.
• Maintain records of welding activities, welding procedures used, materials, consumables, and completed work.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Welder with hands-on welding experience in industrial or construction environments.
• Previous supervisory or foreman experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes such as TIG (141) and MMA/SMAW (111).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and welding procedure specifications.
• Knowledge of welding quality standards and inspection requirements.
