This is what we are looking for:
The client is looking for an experienced SW engineer to strengthen their System Architecture and Engineering team, with the ambition to rapidly grow into a key member of the team. You and the team are responsible for integrate, adapt, and optimize new OS versions to their products. Quality is a priority in their products and something you share in your work. They are curious and creative, continuously learn and improve in technology and ways of working and so do you.
What you will do from day to day:
Analysis of issues and finding suitable solutions - working with various parts of the lower stack in our Android devices
Debugging with primary focus on the lower part of the phone stack, kernel and native
Working in diverse areas from Graphics, Device drivers and Touch, to Linux OS, System core and Power
Communication with internal users and developers (both locally and on other sites)
Work together with other engineers to adapt our products to architectural changes driven both internally and from Google/Qualcomm
Working with standard software management tools e.g., Git, Gerrit
The team:
Our team is responsible for the Android OS upgrades of Xperia phones. We are working in close collaboration with colleagues in Japan. We're a small team working in a wide area, giving the engineers opportunity to both deepen and widen their knowledge, grow in their roles, in the team and in the company. Competences we are looking for:
Relevant Engineering degree
About 5 years of experience in Android development
Deep knowledge of the Android Platform
Skilled in C++ with solid interest in programming and software development
Meritorious is knowledge in Linux Kernel
Fluent in English

General quality mindset - Root cause fix is more important than Workaround fix
Proactivity - able to take on new tasks even if not specifically asked
• We are a large team, so proactiveness is important
Lower-level Android knowledge is an advantage
Linux Kernel knowledge is an advantage
Assignment areas that we work within:
We are handling around 30 areas from graphics, display, OS, device drivers, to sensors, system core, file system, and more. Mainly lower level of the system.
