The Vice President Emerging Portfolio and Search & Evaluate CVMET will lead a team of Brand and Evaluation Directors and Managers involved in all aspects of development and implementation of a compelling strategic and operational plans and business cases for assets from preclinical development up to LCM and including investment decision and search and evaluation for business development opportunities in the therapy area. The job holder must be fully confident in the science, have strong background in clinical development and/ or medical affairs, have launch and pre-launch experience and be able to handle a wide range of projects and engage with prospective partners. The job holder will form and lead cross-functional teams to evaluate opportunities. The role requires strong judgement and decision-making skills to take responsibility both for progressing and terminating evaluations. The VP is responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching a team of senior employees and must ensure that the team as a whole has the requisite knowledge, experience and capability.
Education, Qualifications, Skills & Experience - Essential
• Degree level education: PhD, MD, MBA.
• Strong Leader of senior professionals.
• Broad knowledge of pharmaceutical business, process and activities. Knowledge of scientific, commercial and financial evaluation techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of CVMET, drug development and commercial processes with particular reference to AZ process.
• An established personal external network. Recognised credibility with external companies, institutions and stakeholders.
• Extensive experience in leading multiple, large, international, multi-functional project teams of senior professionals.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to ascertain the relevant issues from large masses of information.
• Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills, demonstrating flexibility, proven ability to deal with complexity under time pressure.
• Experience and effectiveness in the presentation of written and oral business cases to the most senior AZ Management, up to and including SET.
• Gravitas and experience to create a positive relationship with third parties as an AZ Ambassador at Board and Executive Committee level.
• A flexible, team orientated attitude, willing to contribute own skills to deliver AZ priority projects.
