hela Sverige Visa alla jobb hos SKL International AB i Stockholm SKL International is looking for an experienced and dynamic urban specialist to lead its strategic work with the SymbioCity Approach (SCA) - a concept and platform to support sustainable urban development and alleviate urban poverty around the globe. This includes providing strategic direction to ongoing SCA initiatives as well as the long-term development of SKL International's SCA platform. The Urban Specialist will also be responsible for providing hands-on support to SymbioCity projects in the Sub-Saharan region.
More specifically s/he would be responsible for:
• Providing strategic direction to ongoing SCA initiatives and the long-term development of SKL International's SCA platform.
• Identifying key learnings from existing SCA initiatives for knowledge sharing, communication, policy influence and development of the SCA platform.
• Identifying and developing relevant knowledge products for the SCA platform.
• Developing SCA's policy work in SCA cooperation countries and other targeted countries prioritized by Sida. This includes networking and building relationships with relevant international and national stakeholders in the urban sector in targeted countries.
• Developing and implementing SCA networking activities.
• Providing strategic direction and technical support to potential new SCA programmes and projects.
Additionally, the Urban Specialist is also expected to work operationally with one of the upcoming city projects in the Sub-Saharan region (possibly Zimbabwe, Ethiopia or Zambia). The main task will be to manage and provide hands-on support to cities in the implementation of the SymbioCity Approach. This entails process support, coordination and providing technical expertise to the targeted cities as well as to draw conclusions that are of general benefit for urban stakeholders in the country and elsewhere.
The Urban Specialist will be part of the SCA Secretariat in Stockholm and is expected to be involved in regular team discussions and meetings.

• Graduate degree and preferably a Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as: urban planning/development, urban management, architecture, urban sociology, civil engineering or any other area relevant for urban development.
• Extensive working experience of integrated urban development, urban planning, urban management and sustainability related issues.
• Experience from transition- and developing countries, preferably from the Sub-Saharan region.
• Good knowledge of Sweden's international development cooperation policies and/or of working with Sida.
• Experience and capacity to effectively lead and manage development and/or planning projects that involve multiple stakeholders, including training, facilitation, coordination and coaching.
• Have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate complex ideas effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Be fluent writing and speaking in English as well as in Swedish.
In addition to the qualifications described above, the following experiences are considered as an advantage:
• Experience of urban planning/development in a Swedish municipal context
• Experience working with participatory approaches to urban development/planning and poverty reduction in an urban context
• Experience working with gender issues in an urban context
• Experience working with climate resilience

The Urban Specialist is a permanent position with a probation period of six months. The position will be based in SKL International's head office in Stockholm but with frequent travel to SCA cooperation countries, mostly in the Sub-Sahara region.
