THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a thematic advisor for Child Rights Governance (CRG). The advisor will have a specific focus on monitoring and reporting of children's rights within international human rights and child rights accountability mechanisms and on development of Child Centered Social Accountability (CCSA), the promotion of local dialogue on access to and quality of services for children. The thematic advisor is responsible for building knowledge, developing methodology and supporting quality in country and regional programmes. The advisor will work in close cooperation with colleagues in the Thematic Section of the International Program at Save the Children Sweden (SCS). He/she will contribute to the overall thematic development in CRG, including representing SCS in relevant international working groups and coordination mechanisms, as well as work for integration of governance perspectives or components in other prioritized thematic areas, such as child protection and education.

IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BRING
• Not less than 5 years of documented experience of rights based development work in an international context
• Excellent conceptual and theoretical understanding of International Human Rights/Child Rights Treaties and Mechanisms, the role of civil society in monitoring rights, good governance and social accountability.
• Experience from work with thematic development and knowledge development
• Experience from providing capacity building and creating learning opportunities
• Experience from project/program planning and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation (MEAL) and the most commonly used tools in development cooperation

• An ability to while developing the areas of expertise understand and recognize the importance to contribute to the bigger picture of the Section and Department
• Excellent communication skills, willingness to contribute to the professional debate climate and being a good listener
• English is working language. Additional language; French, Spanish and Arabic is an asset.
