Do you have retail experience, English as mother-tongue, and heaps of enthusiasm for English food, drink and books? If so, perhaps you are the person we are looking for! The English Shop is a family run business with shops in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Both shops are busy and lively and have a loyal customer base that expects the best in customer service.
Manager, Maternity Cover
We are looking to recruit a Manager for our Gothenburg shop, for a period of 12-18 months whilst the current Manager is on maternity leave. The post is full-time (40 hours a week) and includes weekend work. Applicants must have management and buying experience.
The post requires the following:
Skills, knowledge and experience:
• Management experience
• Buying experience an advantage
• Experience of working in a shop, preferably a food or book shop
• English as mother-tongue, confident Swedish
• Experience of cash registers and cashing up an advantage
• Knowledge of English food and drink, and a general interest in food
• Enthusiasm for English literature – particularly teenage and childrens’ fiction
• Sound organisational skills
Your role will include:
• Managing a small team of staff
• Serving customers and helping with enquiries
• Placing orders to a number of suppliers
• Ensuring the shop is well-stocked
• Keeping the shop clean and tidy
• Setting priorities and tasks
• Dealing with deliveries, checking delivery notes and invoices
• Cashing up on a daily basis and banking money
3 months probation period.
