Textile Design Engineer - Accessories
At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As TEXTILE DESIGN ENGINEER within the group Interior Accessories you are responsible for developing technical solutions, both on system level and in detail for several different interior accessories. You will be a member of a team consisting of a task leader, purchasing responsible, suppliers and other design engineers. You will be involved during the entire development phase (from the first ideas until production start) and take part in Advanced Engineering/Annual Studies for textile/leather products. At Interior Accessories we work with technical requirements setting, developing technical solutions, attribute balancing, installation instructions, customer validation and verification of our product range. Our responsibility is e.g. development of carpets, luggage load organisation, electrical engine heater, illuminated instep plates, decor panels, iPad holders, cooling box, upholstery for multimedia devices.
Interior Accessories is a team with good working environment and we always support each other to get the best possible result. We are about 15 employees, equal mix of female and male in ages 30-50). We are constantly aiming to find new innovative products and solutions that will enhance our product range and increase our profitability. Therefore advanced engineering is an important area that we focus on. Work is conducted in a global environment, with high speed and with many national and international contacts. The Accessories department aims to become one of the most attractive places to work in within Volvo Car Corporation. Job profile:
• Lead development in a cross functional team and secure result and deliveries
• Develop, update and release technical documents such as drawings, 3D models and technical regulations
• Responsibility for products during the whole lifecycle, from the first ideas until production start and continued in running quality and ratio
• Hold meetings with suppliers and designers from other sections
• Communicate and report targets, status and prognosis for technical solutions
• Participate in design reviews and FMEA
• Involvement in Advanced Engineering/Annual Studies for textile/leather products
Your profile:
• Relevant technical education minimum level of 180 p within Textile Material or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience from textile/material development in automotive area
• High coordinating and project management skills
• Willingness and ability to put customers and their needs in focus
• Innovative and creative
• High social skills
• Good communication skills in English, spoken and written
• Strong textile/leather material and process knowledge is meritorious
• Experience from accessory/after market development and Catia V5 design of interior automotive products is meritorious
