Your workplace
Electronic Defence Systems, a business area of Saab, is one of the world's premier suppliers of solutions for surveillance, avionics and systems to detect, locate and protect against threat.
In Jönköping, we develop and manufacture qualified equipment based on electronics, mechanics, and software for demanding applications in aircraft and helicopters. Many of these products are developed in cooperation with other companies within the Saab group as well as external to Saab. Most of our projects are carried out in an international environment and we are supplier of equipment to two of the major aircraft manufacturers in the world, Boeing and Airbus.
We have a long history in the development and manufacturing of servos and actuators for aircraft applications and one of our major programmes at present is delivery of an electrical actuation system for back-up drive of flaps and slats for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. We are also participating in the European Clean Sky program where we develop a new type of electrical actuators for the aircraft industry. Our ambition is to further grow this business and we therefore need to increase our engineering staff.
Your role
The job is to further develop our servos and actuators for new applications. Primarily this means that you will work with electrical motor drives and control electronics for motor drive functions.
The tasks comprise many technical domains such as control- and power-electronics as well as software. Since all of our applications are in the field of aerospace there are always tough requirements on reliability and safety. As a Systems Engineer, you will work in a broad field of technologies and it is important that you have the ability to work both with high level system requirements as well as design of specialized functions. The work is also performed in cooperation with our marketing and product management department, why technical market support will be an important part of the job.
Your background and qualifications
We are looking for you, who have a university degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering and some experience in product development. You must have ambition and drive and be comfortable in taking a large degree of responsibility. You must also have good communication skills and be able to blend into the product team. Our internal work, in the team, is conducted in Swedish and, since we are working on the international market, you must also be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
