The Audio Systems group within the Driver Interaction & Infotainment department is responsible for HW-, SW- and System development of all audio functionality in the cars. Apart from the sound systems (amplifier and speakers) the responsibility also includes systems like Microphones, Handsfree Voice Communication, ANC (Active Noise Control) and Exterior Sound for Hybrid vehicles. Project Management and Audio Tuning is also part of the group's responsibilities. Our daily work includes transforming ideas into innovations to meet the high standards of future vehicles. As System Responsible for handsfree you will work in close collaboration with our handsfree algorithm suppliers and lead them to deliver quality on time. You will be responsible to maintain the schedule of the handsfree implementation and report status to stakeholders. You will also be responsible to write, maintain and update requirements for the handsfree system. You will tune the performance of the handsfree system and make objective measurements of the system and subjective evaluation. As A System Responsible you will also have HW responsibility for microphones with main tasks as investigate microphone technologies on the market, write requirements for microphone, follow the development of the microphones and support the microphone supplier in the design process.
Main responsibilities
• Define future handfree systems and functionality for future Volvo Car Group in close cooperation with suppliers and engineers within the audio team
• Specify and secure implementation / verification of handsfree functionality in the vehicle projects
• Summarize and present the deliveries to our internal customers
• Investigate technology updates and benchmark competitors and other suppliers on the market.
• Perform the tuning of the handsfree system
• Investigate customer and stakeholder complaints and update the system performance to avoid future complaints
Required qualifications
• University degree in engineering with focus on audio or equal competence level achieved by long term experience.
• You have documented experience from engineering work, preferably automotive and electrical engineering
• Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing
• Documented experience from automotive and/or electronics engineering
• Experience from SW development is meritorious
• Experience as a test engineer, electrical engineering or similar is meritorious
• Experience in the audio field such as music producer, sound engineer, loudspeaker builder or similar (hobby as well as professional work) will be an asset
• Measurement experience, preferably in the audio field will be an asset
• Basic understanding of acoustics will be desirable
• Basic understanding of digital signal processing (preferably audio processing) is meritorious
• Basic understanding of automated systems and algorithms is meritorious
• Basic understanding of microphone technology is meritorious
