The department Electric Propulsion System Engineering (EPS) is responsible for development of all major part of hybrid and electric vehicle systems. Sub-systems as HV Batteries, Electric Drives, Power supplies and Chargers are some of their responsibilities. EPS is a new and expansive part within R&D where Electric Drive and Power Electronics with its electric machines is the key to deliver competitive electrical propulsion systems. The team is skilled, innovative and has a high passion of the area.
As System Responsible Electric Drive HW you will be responsible for electrical drive systems and work in early phases to decide on components in the system. The roles focuses on conceptual studies in early phases and resource planning to some extent. You will interact with different departments within Volvo Car Group to set the requirements and evaluate different alternatives. It is your responsibility as System Responsible Electric Drive HW to ensure technical and development structure across carlines in your projects.
Main responsibilities
• Requirement engineering with elements such as performance, efficiency, EMC, electrical, mechanical, thermal requirements
• System design and sizing of Electric Drive system HW, controls, thermal, mechanical/geometrical and functional interfaces, attribute and system trade-offs
• Technical lead of Electric Drive Systems development from Advanced Engineering through Industrialisation Concept and Implementation phases
• Support development of CAE methods
• Develop verification methods and participate in test activities.
• Cost engineering and design reviews
• Supplier contacts and negotiations
• Networking with Universities and Industrial community
Required qualifications
• University degree within electrical/power engineering or equivalent competence
• Work experience as a Design Engineer within electrical power systems (>1kW) or experience from working with electrical machines and/or experience from vehicle engineering
• Experience in working with Matlab/Simulink, Maxwell, P-Spice and knowledge in EMC is meritorious
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Drivers license B
