Not purely a car maker - also a SW companyThe future belongs to those who are empowered by a great idea and can carry it out. At Volvo Cars, we want to build the change by becoming the fastest growing premium electric brand and the fastest transformer. We want to grow in safety, core computing, electrification, autonomous drive technology and direct customer relations. To make this happen, we need skilled people onboard. People with motivation, energy, business sense and the desire to innovate. People that want to create the next generation Volvo cars in a global, innovative and respectful environment. We will support you to reach your full potential. Join us on this exciting journey into the future!
What you will do
At Software factory at Volvo Cars, we are building a community with highly skilled personnel. We are harmonizing the workflows and developing tools to be used across R&D, with the aim to accelerate the software development at Volvo Cars. We are responsible for:
* Developing continuous integration (CI) architecture & infrastructure.
* Maintaining the complete software build and CI flow.
* Enabling high utilization of infrastructure, test objects and test artefacts.
* Creating automated tools & applications to secure an efficient flow.
* Supporting traceability to fulfil all legal requirements.

We are applying manufacturing principles and techniques to software development to mimic benefits of traditional manufacturing and creating a software product line.
Now we are looking for an Operative CI Architect to join our Software Factory
You will work with CI pipelines, tools, infrastructure to find common areas to optimize, consolidate and make more efficient across R&D.
The first part of your job is to shape the future of CI at R&D. You will work closely with R&D Software Factory POs and CI Architects to accomplish this. You and your fellow architects will make the key technical choices that directly impact the efficiency of our CI machinery and thus the product development/release capacity at Volvo Cars.
The second part of your job is to - with a team of skilled DevOps engineers - rollout (drive) CI Architectural changes across R&D. As your customer base (R&D dev/release org.) consists of thousands of developers - often with conflicting agendas/concerns/preference - this is a non-trivial role that most CI Architects cannot take on. For example, you might be asked to replace GitLab with GitHub across R&D, which is a huge project to plan and implement.
This position could be located either in Lund or Gothenburg.
What you'll bring
We believe that collaboration and networking come natural to you as well as the goal that our SW Factory should enable our business. You have a passion for developing software solutions together with colleagues with high level of specialist competence and are motivated by creating new solutions. You are creative, analytical, curious and are motivated by finding new ways forward by coding, testing and operating the SW development flow. You are communicative and can use suitable value argumentation in dialogue with different stakeholders.
Skills that will support you in your role include:
* M.Sc. in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar relevant experience.
* Business-oriented mindset - always question the relevance of what you are asked to drive and always be ready to be challenged by your peers.
* Experience planning and implementing big infrastructural changes (IT, CI)
* Very experienced with using/maintaining key CI technologies (Jenkins, Gerrit, GitHub, GitLab, Artifactory)
* 5 years (combined) experience with Python, Bash, Groovy or Shell
* Substantial Linux and Windows admin experience
* Substantial Networking and Cloud Experience
* Modelling skills - you need to be able to convey your Architectural plans to both Customers and team for review and implementation.

Meritorious
* Formal modelling (UML2 or C4)
* Substantial Security and Distributed systems experience
* Docker & Kubernetes Experience
* Prior experience working with C/C++ and able to read and debug the code.
* Experience within Automotive and from working in an international environment.
