The Business Specific brief:
Quality engineers at Skype are responsible and accountable for developing and implementing test plans for complex, multi-tier distributed applications throughout the full software development lifecycle.
They play a key role in ensuring all appropriate applications (including new and in production) are fully tested to drive optimal customer experience, no matter the platform or the product. Skype quality engineers are meticulous and highly organised, able to work effectively within a wider development team to deliver quality outcomes on time and to specification.
Skype for Windows Phone will be the 'next big mobile' app to be used by millions of users around the world. It is a strategic platform for Skype and an important revenue generator.
Skype is committed to actively introducing new functionality and product features on the Windows Phone platform and devices to lead groundbreaking developments on the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Automation
As a QE Automation Engineer for mobile, a part of a dedicated team of QA professionals you will be responsible for designing and implementing an automated testing process and framework within the chosen automation tools to minimize rework and maximize automation effectiveness.
You will be also responsible for supporting, maintaining and documenting the automation infrastructure and procedures.
Working closely with development on automation architecture and design and with Quality Engineers to ensure integrity, reliability and effectiveness of automation.
You will help ensure we ship a high-quality product on-time.
Testing
You will define automation test strategies for various types of testing: component, integration, performance, etc.
You will be responsible for creating and executing automated test scripts, analyzing and reporting results as well as maintaining, extending and enhancing automation harness and testing infrastructure over time.
Defects Management
Be responsible for issues tracking, reporting defects to developers, get beyond the problem report providing detailed information from isolated testing scenario to relevant logs to developer to fast resolution.
Expertise/Experience
Prior QA and mobile automation testing experience. Windows Phone experience is a big plus
Experience with all aspects/phases of automation including GUI, integration testing, and performance/load testing
QA experience with C#, C++, Python, Silverlight, .NET
Experience debugging systems and applications
Good knowledge of quality and quality related metrics
Knowledge of software testing methodology (Various techniques, frameworks, etc)
Experience with creating test plans and test cases
Experience working closely with a team of software engineers
Experience with a various defect, requirements, issues and test management systems
Analytical mindset
High stress tolerance
Nice to have:
• Experience of Mobile products QA
• Good knowledge and working experience of mobile operating environments (iOS, Android, Symbian, J2ME, etc.)
• Experience of Agile and iterative development processes, e.g. Scrum
