Your challenges
As Software Developer, you will play a vital part in our team responsible for developing the cranes logistics functions; the system operating as bridge between the crane and the other IT systems in the container terminal. You will work in an agile software team that delivers both standard software but also play important roles in customer projects.
Your main missions will be to manage software development and system design - using mainly Java and C++. Given our global customers, you will also be provided the chance to travel internationally.
Your profile
If you are a result focused person with a systematic thinking, great learning focus and the ability to take initiative, this might be a perfect match for you.
As a foundation, you hold a university degree with specialization in Computer Science or similar. Experience with Java, C++, Eclipse IDE is highly valued, as is general process industry experience. Fluency in English is a must, whereas additional languages are advantageous.

Functional area
You will be part of ABB Ports in Västerås. ABB's business for crane systems assists ports and shipping companies to transfer containers in a reliable, quick and cost efficient way. Crane Systems is specialized in advanced automation and information systems for motion control of all types of container cranes. We are the leading supplier of crane systems and are active worldwide. In the large terminal automation projects we deliver electric and automation systems for 50 to 100 cranes, to the major container ports in Europe, Asia and North America.
In a modern container terminal there are remotely controlled Ship-To-Shore cranes, which handle the loading/off-loading of the container ships. These are in the storage yard supported by stacking cranes, robotized cranes weighing hundreds of tons, which automatically move and with high precision stack the containers. The operation of all the cranes is controlled from a central control room in order to optimize the productivity of the terminal.
