Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future. Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey to redefine what it means to give people freedom to move in the most innovative times in the mobility industry. Volvo Cars is looking to redefine all aspects of its eco-system - from the vehicle itself, to how it is owned, driven, powered and purchased online.
What's in it for you?
User Experience as a discipline is a key part of Volvo Cars' strategy and a newly formed UX organisation is helping gather insights about our user's and redefine and elevate the users experience of Volvo's products and Services. Within Volvo Cars, an Open Innovation Arena is helping us explore, experiment and ultimately de-risk emergent opportunities for potential new business, technologies and experiences.
We are looking for a Senior UX designer to help us deliver these user experiences - turning a variety of insights and early signals into impactful business opportunities and delightful customer experiences. The role will be part of Volvo's Innovation Arena where speculative mindsets and methods are applied to probe future user unknowns.
What you will do:
As a Senior UX Designer within the Innovation Arena, you will primarily focus on design that enables product discovery in a rapidly partner-enabled ecosystem. You will also be a strong facilitator for innovation in the company, helping scale methods and learning to those working closer to product delivery.
Through UX practice, you will lead the way for exploration, experimentation and incubation of future products and services together with experts in business, brand, and technology. You will meet ambiguity, abstraction, and uncertainty with curiosity and thoughtfulness. You will take delight in creating vision, structure or content through UX for others because most often there might not be a prior way to rely on.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver end-to-end user experience design artefacts - user flows, stories, wireframes, and prototypes that balance design aesthetics with intuitive functionality for speculative experiences. You will work closely with user-researchers and other experts to test critical assumptions, gathering valuable data and learning about emergent areas of opportunity. You will help use user-experience design as a tool to test hypotheses and share learning across the company. As a UX designer you will ultimately advocate for future desire in our experiences and offers. You will develop deep empathy for future human needs and frictions, serving as an expert for humans amidst business, brand or technology directions.

We believe that you are:
* Experienced in designing for a consumer-focused tech company and creating magical customer experiences built on empathy, clarity and simplicity.
* Someone with probably at least 6 years' experience who understands what it takes to create elegant, consumer-oriented experiences that help build empathy, clarity and simplicity.
* A 'hunter-gatherer' in terms of your mindset, with the demonstrated ability to use your versatile skills to find "diamonds in the dirt" through discovery and speculation (as opposed to just delivery).
* Able to thrive when faced with uncertainty, ambiguity, or complexity with a proven knack for innovation methods
* A facilitator who relishes in helping others learn how to think differently.
* A versatile, people-focused designer who uses a full range of skills-product design, interaction design, and visual design.
* Experienced in service design and creating experiences beyond the screen.
* Able to shape intangible experiences into something tangible.
* A strong communicator who can inspire teams towards action and empathy for the user.
* A strong collaborator who can work with not only design partners, but many other stakeholders from marketing to engineering.
* Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback -- whether that's hands-on user research or a quantitative A/B test.
