Electrical Propulsion Systems (EPS) is a department in the power train unit within R&D responsible for research and development of Electrical Propulsion Systems. At Volvo Cars we closely cooperate with product planning, other engineering units, purchasing, manufacturing and after-market. We also have deep cooperation with suppliers from all over the world as well as with academia and research organizations.
As a Senior Simulation Engineer you will perform simulations for the electric and hybrid high voltage system. Simulations will be performed at subsystem and complete system level. The models are used to simulate the system in several different domains (electrical, mechanical, and thermal) and include all components in the electric power train. As a result of this, we are looking for a versatile and curious person.
Main responsibilities
* Develop and maintain simulation models
* Investigate and develop new simulation methods
* Continuously develop working processes and procedures
* Participate in and lead research projects with external partners
* Cooperation with the design team for all HW components
* Deliver simulation results in a structured way
* Analyse the simulation result and give proposals on how to improve design and calibration data
Required qualifications
* University degree, preferably PhD
* Very strong knowledge of one or more of the following areas: power electronics, electric machines, electromagnetic fields, applied physics, numerical methods
* Strong Matlab and Simulink skills
* Experience from system and 3D physics simulation as well as model validation
* Relevant job experience
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Passion for physical modelling
* Simscape, Comsol Multiphysics, Ansys (Maxwell, Simplorer, Fluent) is meritorious
* Python, Modelica is meritorious
* Experience from industrial and academic research projects will be highly valued
* Large industrial or academic network will be valued
