www.ri.se Senior researcher in power electronics and numerical methods
For our power electronics business, we are looking for a senior employee with previous experience of numerical simulation methods for design and analysis of power electronics components and electrical systems containing physical modelling of components connected to an electrical circuit. Complex systems may contain a large number of parallel-connected, physically-modelled components.
We are looking for you with previous experience working with the simulation of power components based on wide bandgap materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN). You have previous experience of electric TCAD simulations using some of the simulation programs of the package. You will work with Synopsys TCAD program (Medici, Sentaurus) and are used to managing these.
You will also use software for simulation of thermal (CFD) and thermo-mechanical issues using primarily ANSYS ("CFD and mechanical package").
Your role in the power electronics group
Your main task will be to perform simulations and analyse results in the industrial and publicly-funded projects that we operate within the group. Your duties also include participating in industrial contacts within the framework of the WBG Power Centre and in the preparation of project proposals. The work is carried out in a project form and means that communication with other project partners is an important part.
Working within the RISE power electronics group represents an opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future through the development of energy-efficient power electronics based on new wide bandgap materials for a variety of applications in future electrical systems. We work in close cooperation with industrial and research actors all over the world. Examples of applications where we have come a long way are energy converters for electric motor vehicles in electric and hybrid cars and trains, including the design and analysis of power components for these and other applications.
You are proficient in English in speech and are willing to learn Swedish if you do not already speak it.
