The group Powertrain Dependability is responsible for system safety development and related diagnostic monitoring of our complete propulsion systems. Our delivery consists of software functionality that identifies inaccuracies, prevents critical events and mitigates the effect of a fault. We apply highest standard when it comes to minimising customer impact. Therefore, focus on robust system design is crucial.
As Senior Functional Safety Engineer at Powertrain Dependability, you will be part of a highly creative group that continuously develops and implements diagnostic and safety monitoring concepts in different vehicle applications. We do this with deep knowledge in, and in close cooperation with, control system development teams across Volvo Cars. The position is a great opportunity to use your skills and capabilities to become an expert within the system safety area. As control systems across the entire vehicle constantly increases its complexity, this area of expertise gets more and more challenging.
On this position you will work with colleagues having similar responsibilities, in environment where continuous exchange of ideas are somewhat a rule and development of both safe and robust functionality is demanding. You will work in challenging and fast moving environment. Working on this position, ideas and concepts can easily be tested in real life, in real vehicles and on the road. After putting software together and download to a car, we verify our systems by going on expeditions around the world to find interesting environments that will stress our systems.
Main responsibilities
Develop strategies for technical solutions for prevention of critical events and mitigation of fault effects
Function development, implementation, data setting and verification
Software architecture development
Creation and breakdown of requirements for monitoring software
Data evaluation with e.g. machine learning
Planning of your teams activities to meet project milestones
Leading, supporting and transferring knowledge to less experienced people in the team
Participation in expeditions
Required qualifications
Master of Science within Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physic or Mechatronic with experience on relevant position
Experience within software development, preferably within embedded powertrain/vehicle control systems
Knowledge of System safety and Monitor methods is meritorious
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Driving license "B"
