The Technical Support Military Aircraft department is looking to appoint a Field Service Representative to work in South Africa from April 2012.
This department is responsible for providing technical support to all users of the Gripen system by having a Field Service Representative on site at the user and by providing technical support from a base at Saab in Linköping.
The department represents the customer interface in terms of technical support and is responsible for providing support, advice and instructions for the operation and maintenance of the Gripen system in Sweden, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Thailand, as well as to the operator in South Africa.
Your role
We are looking for someone who is interested in working abroad on exciting and challenging tasks.
One of our staff has completed his assignment and is ending his service period in South Africa. Your task will be to continue the assignment and to act as Senior Field Service Representative on site at Air Force Base Makhado in South Africa.
Your role is to act as the principle contact between Saab and the operator. The work will involve close cooperation with the engineering function at AFB Makhado, PSSM. You will provide technical support in the form of support, advice and instructions for the operation and maintenance of SAAF Gripen aircraft for a period of 1 year.
Before commencing work in South Africa, you will undergo preparation in the form of working at the head office, Technical Support Office (TSO), in Linköping. Training and practice adapted to your individual requirements will be provided, with approximately 1 month of practical experience spent with the outgoing FSR on site at AFB Makhado.
You should have excellent knowledge of the JAS 39 Gripen and maintenance systems. In addition to technical expertise, good social and educational skills are required, including a good level of written and spoken English. We are looking for an independent, responsive and flexible person with the ability to adapt to new situations, other cultures and environments.
