Senior Application Engineer - Mechanical Development

The group CAD and Mechanical Development belongs to the department Operational Development, which is responsible for all operational development within Product Development organization. The group CAD and Mechanical Development serve the Product Development organization, globally, with mechanical development processes, methods and tools. We are business application owners of CATIA V5 and TeamCenter Visualization and run long-term strategic lead-time reduction projects, as well maintenance and training of our current methods. The team consist of 18 method developers, and 2 CATIA-trainers.

As Senior Application Engineer - Mechanical Development, your responsibilities include guiding and supporting engineers at Powertrain Installation to develop CATIA templates, based on stable flexible modelling techniques. Are you looking for a position where you actively can improve the efficiency of Powertrain Installation CAD design work, this will be the challenge for you!

Main responsibilities

• Support development of CATIA Templates, within Powertrain Installation
• Deliver operational support and training for Mechanical Development
• Ensure common / best practice processes, methods and tools
• Document resulting process and methods

Required qualifications

• Technical academic education (M.Sc or equivalent)
• Extensive experience in CATIA V5 and automotive design
• Experience in surface and volume modelling
• Ability to communicate in English is essential in this role
• Experience from CATIA V5 stable flexible modelling techniques, according to Volvo "CAD Advanced training" principles are highly meritorious
• Experience from Powertrain installation design work and Packaging experience is meritorious

• Good balance between technical knowledge and leadership capabilities

• Abstract thinking and open minded
