The Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, SLU, Umeå, is looking for a researcher that studies the link between wild living and synanthropic rodents, their pathogens and their ecological contact zone with humans towards increased understanding and potential mitigation of pathogen transmission and disease outbreak.
The position is placed at the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Sweden. The department offers a creative and stimulating environment and perform internationally recognised basic and applied research, education and environmental monitoring in the research areas: animal ecology, aquatic ecology, molecular ecology and restoration ecology (see

Duties:
The researcher will perform research together with the other members of the unit "Small mammals, their predators and zoonoses" and is expected to initiate, plan and lead research and environmental assessment, write scientific articles, teach and supervise students. Administrative duties may be part of the duties.
Qualifications:
The applicant should hold a PhD in ecology, disease ecology, epidemiology or equivalent and should have made a postdoc. We are looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented candidate with documented experience in either disease ecology, epidemiology and/or population ecology of small rodents. Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required and documented statistical skills are a prerequisite for the position. Experience with live-trapping of small mammals will count as merits.
