The applicant will conduct independent research on disease diagnostics and detection of pine needle diseases using next generation sequencing. It is expected for successful candidates to lead all aspects of the projects and planning of the studies, independently coordinate the practical work and analyses and to write scientific publications in collaboration with the project group.
Qualifications:
The applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in plant or forest pathology or related field. The applicant must also have at least 3 years of relevant experience post completion of their Ph.D. Successful applicant should have documented knowledge and experience molecular forest pathology, pine needle diseases, and disease diagnostics. Relevant skills include: pathogenicity assays of trees, nucleic acid extraction from plants, PCR, and disease diagnostics, including LAMP assays. Experience using next generation sequencing are additional merits.
The candidate must be fluent in English and have excellent written and spoken communication skills. Great emphasis on personal qualities such as ability to work in teams as well as independently.
