hela Sverige 3D video has gained momentum in recent years: 3D movies and computer games are already common and followed by TV sets and mobile phones which are entering the market. The usage of 3D video is expected to increase also in other areas such as conference services, health applications, information and entertainment services. Various display technologies are competing for market domination, ranging from stereoscopic displays with glasses to auto-stereoscopic that don't require glasses. The next step is to have auto-stereoscopic multiview displays where multiple viewers simultaneously can experience 3D and also change their viewpoints by moving sideways.
Research area Multimedia Technologies at Ericsson Research is responsible for developing codecs and formats suitable for future video services, in particular with support for 3D video. As a researcher in the video group you will be part of a skilled team developing algorithms for compression and synthesis of 3D multiview video. You will work on the forefront of video codec design with inventions and programming of new algorithms suitable for standardization and 3D video applications. Other areas of interest include 2D video compression as well as transport and storage of video.
The work is done in close cooperation with other units within Ericsson as well as customers and other external partners.
You are a motivated person with a strong drive for innovation and team work. You should have knowledge of image/signal processing in general and video coding in particular. Experience in 3D technology is meriting.
You should also have:
• a PhD or Master of Science
• excellent programming skills (C, C++)
• good communication skills (fluent in English)
