hela Sverige RaySearch develops innovative software solutions to improve cancer care. Over 2,600 clinics in more than 65 countries use RaySearch software to improve treatments and quality of life for patients. RaySearch was founded in 2000 and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. Headquarter is in central Stockholm and the company has subsidiaries in the US, Europe and Asia. Today we are more than 380 employees with a common vision in improving cancer care with innovative software. Our great staff is crucial for our success and we offer a fantastic working environment in modern offices, flexibility and good opportunities for development. We believe in equal opportunities, value diversity and work actively to prevent discrimination.
Software is an essential weapon in the fight against cancer and at RaySearch we are passionate about innovating radiation therapy. Joining us as a research physicist, you will get the opportunity to use your motivation and educational background to make a vital difference.
About the role
As a research physicist, you will be part of a department with junior and senior researchers, specialized in different areas like physics, optimization or image processing. We take brilliant ideas on how to advance radiotherapy planning and turn them into software prototypes, either in the RayStation code base (C++ and C#/.NET) or using the RayStation python scripting framework. Promising prototypes can be followed all the way to product, and throughout this process we work with other departments such as the development, the machine learning and the service department. The research department is also involved in several research collaborations with clinical cancer centers all over the world.
As a junior research physicist you will get a solid introduction and as long as you have a great motivation to learn, your colleagues will gladly help you with all of your questions. You will get into the role gradually during the first year. Our colleague Rasmus started at RaySearch in 2016 as an MSc thesis student in engineering physics, after which he joined us as a research engineer. He has been working in several different challenging physics related projects, both internal and in collaboration with prominent university hospitals.
"In my role, I lead, or take part in, algorithm prototyping and research collaborations involving all kinds of problem solving related to physics, math and programming. Much of my work is research intensive and I get to work with competent people in a really nice work environment. I really enjoy that I have the opportunity to learn new things on a daily basis, use all my physics knowledge from university, and contribute to a fascinating and important multidisciplinary field of research, actively improving cancer treatment for patients all over the world."
Your profile
You have good analytical skills and a creative mindset. When working on a problem, you formulate the right questions, identify what is important and work in a goal-oriented way towards a solution. You know when to communicate to receive and give information to the people that may need it, you take responsibility and contribute to a positive atmosphere. You take pride in delivering high-quality results with efficiency.
• MSc in engineering physics or similar, with results and selected courses demonstrating a deep physics knowledge
• Interest in programming or strong programming skills
• Fluent in English
• 0-6 years of experience in an academic or industry environment, with a focus on solving physics modeling problems or software development
It is an advantage (but not a requirement) if you also:
• Are fluent in Swedish
• Understand ionizing radiation
• Have experience from large-scale code projects, especially in C++ and/or C#
Application
Please apply to the position through the application form below. Application screening will start from January 11th and be ongoing. We do not accept applications by e-mail, but if you have any questions about the position please contact Agnes Angerud, Senior Research Physicist, or Johanna Gustafsson, HR.
