At the Division of Digital Services and Systems at Luleå University of Technology, we have a need to employ a research engineer in Information systems with a focus on data science. The division includes the subject information systems and the center formations Center for Distance Spanning Technology and Center for Security in Society and Critical Infrastructures. The research within the division focuses on an overarching level on sustainable digital transformation from societal, organizational and individual perspectives. We do this by conducting teaching and research in the areas of responsible digital innovation, data and decision science, and information security.

Subject description
The research subject Information systems focuses on the design and use of information technology in relation to humans, organizations, and societies.

Project description
The subject includes studies, and development, of digital practices, resources, artifacts and systems. At Luleå University of Technology, research focuses on developing knowledge about, and influencing, the ongoing digital transformation in society with the goal of contributing to a sustainable society where we take our starting point in local conditions for achieving global change. Within the subject, we conduct teaching in four educational programs: Systems Science, Digital Service Innovation, Data Science, and Information Security.

Duties
This research engineering position with a focus on data science means that you support the various research, development and innovation projects that are conducted in the subject. The results achieved are communicated at various meetings with relevant actors outside the academy. The current tasks give you a unique opportunity to become part of a creative and innovative research group and conduct the work in close collaboration with industry and the surrounding society.

Qualifications
For this position we look for a person that takes initiative, are communicative and have an interest in collaborating with people, and contribute to the subject of Information systems' contact network with local and regional actors. You have a degree (bachelor/master) in data science, or related fields. You should have experience of working in a research project. It is an advantage if you have previous experience in machine learning and conversational bots.

• Take your own initiatives, think in new directions and solve practical problems that arise

You should have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor in Data science, or related degree is a must. Master is a plus, but not must have
• Worked in research projects, either individually or with supervision
• Good knowledge in English
• Internship, or other professional experience

Information
The position is full-time and limited to 12 months (can be extended). Place of employment is Luleå. Access 2024-09-01.
