JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research Division plans to fill a vacancy for a research economist, as of September 2011. We are searching for a candidate with a PhD in economics, several years of relevant work experience, preferably at a central bank, and an expertise in monetary economics. People applying for the position should have a solid research background in monetary economics, among other things proven by several publications in relevant, high-quality peer-reviewed journals, a substantial research agenda and active participation in the research community. The candidate should have several years of experience in developing computational methods relevant for state of the art monetary policy models. In particular, skills needed to analyze monetary policy in a low-interest economy are valuable. Previous experience from applying models to monetary policy preparation is also beneficial.
The candidate is expected to produce high-quality research for publication in peer-reviewed journals and to provide support to the policy divisions at the bank. Accordingly, an ability to present complex issues effectively and to communicate research results and analytical findings to policymakers is very important. The average distribution between research and policy work is 80/20.
The working languages at the Research Division are English and Swedish. A proficiency in Swedish is not required. The Riksbank offers a competitive wage package.
