You will report to R&D Electromechanical Chapter Leader, and you will become part of the Innovation & Common Module Agile Unit in Västerås, Sweden. The unit is part of the ABB Electrification/Smart Power division, and you will join the electromechanical switching technology Agile team, its mission is to innovate in the electromechanical switching technologies by designing, prototyping, and validating new concepts (e.g., arc chambers, magneto dynamic, fluid dynamics) deployable in new products in the long-term. In doing so, we holistically anticipate and fullfill the future needs of our costumer.
You will be fully accountable of the activity assigned to you, you will have the possibility to interact with the product owner and work in a global team. This Position can include small travel approx 10%
Your responsibilities
Together with the other designer you will work in develop new innovative, scalable, and modular solution for electromechanical switching in contactors according to the Agile Team mission.
Supporting the global team in contactors prototyping and attend test execution.
Define and share the contactors technology inside the team and with external stakeholders.
Be responsible for the implementation of state-of-the-art technology inside the contactors design.
You will be part of the Electromechanical Design chapter and contribute to the technical growth of all the team, sharing best practice and lessons learned.

Your background
Master's degree in electrical engineering, Physics or equivalent.
Knowledge of CAD software (CREO is a plus) and PLM system (Windchill is a plus).
5 or more years of experience in similar design role.
Good technical knowledge of low voltage contactors is a plus.
understanding of the IEC 60947-4 standard is a plus.
Experience in self-driving the activity assigned: design, prototyping, and testing with focus on short circuit.
Proven problem-solving capability.
Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodology is a plus.
Fluent in English written and spoken.
Furthermore, you are a relationship-building and responsive team player who is good at communicating.
