SKL International is looking for an experienced and dynamic project manager to lead its work in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This includes managing an ongoing project, the Tunisia Local Governance Project, and other short-term assignments, as well as identifying and developing new opportunities in the region.

Our projects are primarily financed by Sida and reflect the Swedish Government?s priorities for international development cooperation. As a subsidiary of SALAR, SKL International draws on the resources, knowledge and expertise of Swedish municipalities and counties/regions in our projects. However, we emphasise the need to continuously adapt our approach to the local context. We have projects in Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. We have almost 20 people based in our headquarters in Stockholm in addition to project staff and consultants located in Bosnia, Colombia, Kenya, Ukraine, Turkey and Tunisia. SKL International has invested significant resources over the past few years in building up its competence and networks in the Middle East and North Africa region. This led to a number of strategic assignments in the region, of which one was the establishment of the Tunisia Local Governance Project. This project builds on an earlier pilot project and will run until the end of 2017. It supports decentralisation reforms in Tunisia by informing policy development, improving municipal financing system, strengthening the National Federation of Tunisian Cities and promoting exchange within the region. The Project Manager will have full responsibility for managing the project and ensuring that it achieves its objectives. This includes leading the project team located in Stockholm and Tunis, hiring and overseeing consultants, organising project activities, monitoring and reporting on project progress, and ensuring that the project is on track to meet its objectives.
In addition, the Project Manager will strategically lead SKL International's work in the MENA Region. This includes monitoring developments in the region; identifying, developing and negotiating new project opportunities; leading or contributing to the development of new project proposals; and continuously building SKL International's networks and contacts in the region.
