Sweco Environment's International Business Unit is responsible for the development and promotion of the company's export business. We manage and execute projects internationally in the fields of water and sanitation, the environment, solid waste management and water resources management. We even facilitate EU-financed projects in Sweden.

We are experiencing increased demand for our services in sustainable urban development and consequently are searching for a new recruit to join our team, to contribute to and develop such projects. Our main area of responsibility is for technical infrastructure, such as water and sanitation, waste, energy as well as climate adaptation. Our focus is on the circular economy. As a natural part of our project work, we often work closely with subsidiary companies across the Sweco Group.

Job description

The newly recruited project coordinator will have the opportunity to grow in the position and in time will be able to develop and manage their own multidisciplinary projects in an international environment. This will be achieved by being gradually involved in various parts of the business, where tasks will include:

• Coordinating/managing our work in the fields of water and sanitation, solid waste, energy and climate adaptation, as part of a multidisciplinary project team;
• Building a network within the Sweco group as well as with potential customers and financiers;
• Drafting tenders and taking part in marketing activities;
• Building knowledge in international contract matters;
• Supporting colleagues and assisting in other projects.

Being a consultant at Sweco means working towards clearly defined project goals, within a set timeframe. Projects are normally carried out in teams, where each employee's contribution is equally important, in our efforts to produce successful results.

The position is based in Sweco's headquarters in Stockholm but will involve travel in Europe and further afield.

Requirements for candidates

Candidates must have an M.Sc. in the environmental field or civil engineering and should have approximately 5 years of relevant work experience. For example, this could be as a consultant at another engineering consultancy or at a local authority, dealing with water and sanitation or waste issues. Candidates must have international experience of some form, anything from studying overseas, to previous experience in multilateral projects.

Since we work with customers globally, we are looking for someone who enjoys and is in the position to undertake work-related travel, has excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language and must have at least basic abilities in the Swedish language. Being able to communicate in an additional language is considered to be an advantage.

Characteristics of the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who is determined and outgoing, who is proactive and who wants to develop their project management skills. The successful candidate will enjoy having a coordinating role where they can put in practice their structured way of working and ability to apply an overall perspective, when considering issues. Since the position involves travel, the successful candidate must be flexible and able to adapt easily to new situations and environments.

Sweco's offer

We are offering the successful candidate a position in a dynamic international environment. There will be a variety of tasks in different types of projects, both in Sweden and internationally. Sweco has a decentralised organisation and there is the opportunity to pursue issues that you are passionate about. At Sweco, employees have the opportunity to shape a sustainable society by working in an organisation that takes responsibility for achieving this, creating reality from visions. In addition, there are a great many talanted and enthusiastic employees to network and collaborate with. At Sweco, professional development is not just an opportunity but a requirement.

Do you want to help us shape the future?

We look forward to receiving your application in the English language, in the form of a cover letter and CV.
