Department of Plant Breeding
About the position
The person who receives this position will assist active researchers within the group with various practical activities such as cultivation and maintenance of plants in greenhouses as well as phenotyping in the field. The job duties will also include plant pathological work such as cultivation of fungal cultures, microscopy, infection studies, and method development. Additionally, the work will involve the development of genomic tools and resources for use in plant breeding.

Your profile
The person we are looking for should have education in biology, biotechnology, or genetics and plant breeding. Experience in field and greenhouse experimentation combined with laboratory work is advantageous. Candidates with knowledge in plant cultivation and experience in pre-breeding for resistance against insects and fungal diseases are encouraged to apply. Experience in using R and performing association studies is advantageous. It is important that you can easily collaborate with various individuals and functions throughout the entire institution, and it is a requirement that you are proficient in English both verbally and in writing.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will be given to factors such as flexibility, drive and independence, accuracy, as well as how the applicant's experience and expertise are judged to complement and strengthen the research work at the institution.

The Department of Plant Breeding teaches and performs strategic and applied research on horticultural and agricultural crops with the aim of providing knowledge, tools and products for a bio-based economy, improved environment and human health. In the plant breeding division, we use a wide range of both conventional and modern breeding technologies, ranging from field experiments to evaluation of genetic diversity to genetic, omics, biotechnological, biochemical and physiological approaches.
