What do we offer?
At the department Propulsion Transmission Systems our vision is to provide world leading transmission technology in order to support Volvo Cars vision; to be the world's most progressive and desired premium car brand.
We are responsible for delivering Automatic and Manual gearboxes, Shifter systems, Clutch systems, Drive shafts, AWD systems, EFAD (Electric Front Axle Drive) and ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive) to the Vehicle Propulsion projects. The AWD team develop drive line components; power transfer unit, propeller shaft, rear drive unit, active on-demand clutch, drive shafts and corresponding dampers and brackets. We are about ten persons the group, and we are now looking for you - who want to take ownership over the drive shafts!
You will work in close cooperation with the world's leading system suppliers and we are involved from concept phase and industrialization to quality and cost reduction in running production. The role is challenging due to high complexity as well as high level of technical content.
The major challenges - which you will get the opportunity to address, are:
* Highest efficiency for best fuel economy
* World class NVH behaviour
* Optimized torque distribution for traction and durability
What you'll do?
You will be Product Manager for drive shafts to hybrid powertrains, both front and rear axle are included as well as torsion vibration dampers, bearing anchorage and intermediate bearing.
You will represent drive shafts in all projects and be the main contact for all technical concerns towards the suppliers. You will lead the cross functional work, from development to industrialization, by securing time, cost, durability, functions, testing, CAE and properties in the vehicle, all in order to secure the function. You will also be responsible for secure packaging in vehicle together with the design engineers and providing the engineering documentation of specification.
Do you fit the profile?
To success in the role, you are well structured and analytical, you have well developed planning skills, preferably from LEQM. We see that you are a result oriented problem solver, with a positive mind set.
You are self-managed while being a real good team player. Further, you are a skilled communicator, dedicated to contribute!
Qualifications:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
* Experience of development within the automotive industry (Meritorious within Powertrain / Transmission area)
* CAD experience (CATIA V5, TCE)
* KDP knowledge
* Fluent in English
* Driver's license B
Meritorious:
* Degree in Economics
* German knowledge
* Driver's license BE (car with heavy trailer)
