The team Closure Systems is a part of the purchasing department Body Exterior. We are responsible for sourcing advanced engineering projects and new car programs as well as to cost optimise running production for all Volvo Car Group's manufacturing plants. We also have responsibility to develop the supply base and commodity strategy, negotiating pricing and write agreements.
One of the employees will take on a new position outside the organisation and we are now looking for a Product Buyer as a permanent member of the Closure Team. In this role you will be responsible for the scope of buy within the areas tailgates, hinges and power operated tailgates. You will work closely with the Commodity Buyer for this scope, and be a part of a team of 8 individuals. Your daily tasks will include administrative work such as create and update price files, report progress and result, and transact purchase orders.
Main responsibilities
• Create and establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
• Negotiate commercial and time consequences at suppliers connected to design changes in vehicle projects
• Negotiate and establish agreements
• Participate in cross functional teams with engineering, quality and manufacturing
• Drive continuous improvement activities within purchasing and with suppliers
• Have frequent contact with suppliers and run the day-to-day business
• Support development of supplier strategies and commodity business plans
• Perform yearly commercial negotiations with the objective to reduce cost and price for the area
• Support raw material negations for the area as well as supplier selections
• Work toward individual targets
Required qualifications
• University degree or equivalent, Economics or Engineering preferred
• Good computer skills (MS Office)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Experience in Purchasing
