We are searching for a Process Engineering Specialist to join the RD&I Product and Process Chemistry Team. You can be based in Stenungsund or Örnsköldsvik. AkzoNobel has a unique technology base and profound experience in the production of high quality cellulose derivatives, specialty polymers and additives. These products are used in several applications e.g.as rheology modifiers for waterborne architectural paint and cement and gypsum formulation in building and construction.The Product and Process Chemistry Team is specialized in long term development and improvement projects concerning the products and processes within AkzoNobel Functional Chemicals. You will have the pleasure of working with highly skilled colleagues within cellulose chemistry, cellulose ether processing, HSE, multivariate data analysis and design of experiments.
In this position you will manage projects that lead to new or improved processes and products for Performance Additives. This means that you will initiate, lead, perform, evaluate and report on RD&I project work. You will also be the process engineering expert and collaborate with universities in joint projects. During the first year you will focus on our plant in Örnsköldsvik, but the team also supports our plants in Ningbo, Arnhem, and Novara
Main responsibilities
• Lead and or participate in development and improvement projects
• Function as process engineering expert leading to new products and process developments
• Coordinate and lead global joint development projects with universities, institutes and other parties within and outside AkzoNobel.
• Initiates new research, development or improvement projects

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical engineering or related field and 2 years of experience within process engineering.
• Or Master in Chemistry, Chemical engineering or related field and minimum 5 years of experience within process engineering.
• Project management skills.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Be able to travel (30%)
