The purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise and knowledge of semi-submersibles offshore platforms, FPSO:s (Floating Production and Oil Storage) and other floating and fixed offshore structures within the areas of Marine Outfitting to ensure successful projects, carry out Marine Outfitting related tasks as well as provide support and assistance through mentoring others and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Plan, lead and execute project tasks in the area of marine outfitting according to classification rules to ensure project deliverables are on time and to a high standard.
Plan, lead the development of Marine Outfitting arrangements using software tool AutoCad, including; heildeck, mooring, stairs, ladders and life savings arrangements.
Be responsible for the documentation of the performed work using the GVA document management system.
Plan and lead the development of Marine Outfitting documents such as Design Philosophies, Specifications etc.
Make decisions on Marine Outfitting problems and methods, and represent the company on conferences to resolve important technical questions or to negotiate with key engineers of other organizations.
Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
Qualifications and Experience:
M.Sc. degree in Naval Architecture (preferable), Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
10 + years experience of the Offshore Industry, preferable +3 years within the Marine Outfitting field.
Well developed knowledge about ship and offshore rules concerning the DNV and ABS classification societies, practical experience is required.
Knowledge of AutoCad and PDMS software.
Knowledge in Artist Impression software is an advantage.
Thorough understanding of the principles of approval by Classification Societies.
Previous experience from working in a supervisor or team leader role.
Fluent and effective oral and written communication skills in English are required.
