hela Sverige The School of Medical Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in Cell Biology for a fixed-term appointment.
Background
The project will use in vitro models to generate highly resolved data of inflammatory events, which in turn will be modelled into in silico models. The project is transdisciplinary and includes close collaboration with business partners in the Life Science/Pharmaceutical industry. This project is hosted by the Inflammatory Response and Infection Susceptibility Center (iRiSC) at Örebro universitet, and iRiSC will be the main affiliation for the position. Örebro University is one of the most expansive universities in Sweden, and was most recently placed as number 75 when Times Higher Education ranked the young universities in the world, and as number 30 when looking at the citation rate per se.
Duties and responsibilities
The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons, who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree, to consolidate and develop primarily their research/artistic skills. The applicant will be responsible for developing, maintaining, designing, and conducting wet lab experiments using different in vitro models (cell- and tissue models) relevant for inflammation. The applicant will also analyze inflammatory markers, using conventional techniques such as ELISA, qPCR, and flow cytometry. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with system biologists and bioinformaticians.
Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants holding a doctoral degree in biomedicine or in related subject areas.
Assessment criteria
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills, and an ability to cooperate as well as to perform the duties well with high quality and suitability. Particular importance shall be attached to the qualities enabling the candidate to contribute to the future development of both research and education. A demonstrated ability and desire to pursue an academic career is also of importance.
In addition, experience of cell culture techniques is crucial, preferably within tissue models. The applicant should also have documented experience with above stated applications (ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry). Previous research within inflammation, immunology and inflammatory diseases is preferable. Since the project will be conducted in close collaborations with other professions and non-academic partners, a cooperative mindset is of great importance. The applicant should also be highly organized, able to meet deadlines, have a clear sense of responsibility, and be goal oriented.
Information
The position is a full-time position for a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of applying for an additional third year. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
