hela Sverige The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.
Division
The Unit of Biostatistics seeks qualified biostatisticians for a new post-doc position.
The Unit was established in 2010 at IMM, and it currently comprises about 20 affiliated biostatisticians, including 1 Professor, 3 Assistant Professors, biostatisticians, post-docs and doctoral students. The Unit is extremely active in methodologic and collaborative research and involved in the teaching of biostatistics in various undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs at Karolinska Institutet. The Unit is also responsible for the Biostatistics Core Facility, supported by KI and Stockholm County Council.
Duties
The new biostatistician will participate in
- advancing statistical research
- applying to external agencies for grants funding
- teaching in biostatistics
The new biostatistician will collaborate with the researchers at the Unit on the development of manuscripts that will be submitted for publication in highly-reputed statistical journals. The new biostatistician will also be involved in the teaching of courses in biostatistics that in which the Unit of Biostatistics is responsible. The Unit of Biostatistics can provide excellent support and an ideal environment for the new biostatistician to thrive as researcher and collaborator. The new biostatistician will be offered the opportunity to participate in conferences and workshops, and be involved in the activities of the Unit of Biostatistics.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
Qualification
A PhD degree in biostatistics, statistics, applied mathematics, or related field is required. Knowledge of statistical software (e.g. R, SAS, Stata) is also required. Communication skills and ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time are important. A track-record of peer-reviewed publications and international collaborations is desirable. Interest in professional development in biostatistics is strongly appreciated.

- A summary of current work (no more than one page)
- A statement of purpose (no more than one page)
- Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
- Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
