Titel: Postdoctoral fellow in vaccine response evaluation
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter:
A 24 months full time position is available within the research group led by Ali Harandi, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Institute for Biomedicine, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The focus of the research group is on vaccine evaluation, particularly on studying novel immunization strategies and the mode of action of vaccines and adjuvants. The development of novel vaccines may be facilitated by a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of action of vaccines or their individual components as they pertain to their interaction with the immune system. The research group is currently involved in several European Commission-funded collaborative projects with the main objective to improve our understanding of vaccine mechanisms of action. The research is done by employing conventional immunological methods with cutting-edge omics technologies. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to conduct studies and coordinate activities with other partners within one or more of the ongoing EU vaccine projects. In particular, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting research on evaluation of the affinity and characterizing the neutralizing epitopes targeting ability of vaccine-induced antibody response using surface plasmon resonance technology.
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer:
Eligibility: An achieved doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as postdoctor at Göteborg University. The doctoral thesis shall be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here. Documented experiences and expertise of classical immunological techniques (ELISA, ELISPOT, work with primary cells), animal work (mice, guinea pigs), and working with viruses in BSL2 facilities are required. Hands on experience andknowledge on surface plasmon resonance based evaluation of antibody response, including competitive surface plasmon resonance techniques is desired. Experience of management and data analysis of -omics projects (or strong desire to learn) as well as previous experience of research in vaccine development or evaluation is a merit. The successful candidate will have excellent communicative skills particularly regarding scientific communication in English, a high degree of autonomy, a developed way of critical thinking, and documented ability to work successfully in a group.
