Are you eager to work at the forefront of quantum technology and contribute to one of Sweden's most ambitious research initiatives? We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Division of Applied Quantum Physics, Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology.
Why join us?
• The opportunity to conduct world-class research in a leading-edge scientific field.
• A dynamic research environment within WACQT - the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology - one of Europe's largest quantum technology programs.
• A strong focus on career development, diversity, and gender equality, supported through networking and mentoring activities.
• A friendly and inclusive working atmosphere, both within the research group and across Chalmers.
About the research project
The successful candidate carry out will research in the field of theoretical continuous-variable quantum computation. In particular, the focus will be on bosonic codes, classical simulation of quantum computers, and resource theory for quantum computation. They will carry theoretical studies using both analytical and numerical tools, in these subject areas. They will also interact with the experimental groups at Chalmers, as well as with international collaborators
The project will be carried at the division Applied Quantum Physics at Chalmers, and as a part of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). WACQT is a 12-year, billion-SEK initiative started in 2018 with the purpose of advancing Swedish academia and industry to the forefront of quantum technology, and to build a Swedish quantum computer. The WACQT team at Chalmers currently has about 100 members (faculty, permanent research staff, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate students). WACQT is committed to promoting career development, diversity, and gender equality through networking and supporting activities.
Major responsibilities:
• Carry research in the indicated research areas (specific projects will be specified together), including both analytical and numerical work
• Co-supervise PhD students and master students
• Interact with experimentalists working on bosonic codes and continuous-variable quantum processors with microwave cavities
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
• PhD in Physics or neighbouring fields
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
• Ability to program in high-level languages such as Python or C
• Solid background in quantum mechanics
• Experience from working on quantum error-correction, open quantum systems, quantum optics, bosonic codes or continuous-variable quantum computing, resource theories, simulation of quantum computers.
We value a collaborative attitude and an interest in working both in teams and independently. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and a problem-solving analytical ability are important personal qualities for this position.
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline.
