hela Sverige Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!
The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research, the predominant activity, is often done in collaboration with corporate and international partners. We are one of the university's largest, oldest and most well known departments, encompassing five interacting scientific fields: biology, chemistry, material physics, applied physics and theory and modelling.

https://liu.se/en/organisation/liu/ifmWe are now looking to appoint a postdoc in the field of Semiconductor Device Materials with a focus on the development of AlN material technology platform for energy efficient power switching and conversion.
This recruitment is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden's foremost universities over the course of 10 years. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science. Read more:

The post doctoral project focuses on the development of AlGaN/AlN Schottky barrier diode and AlN-based high-electron mobility transistor structures on AlN substrates by hot-wall metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOCVD). We have shown recently that the hot-wall MOCVD concept enables superior material quality and high-performance devices on wide bandgap GaN, SiC and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors - AlGaN and b-Ga2O3. The post doctoral researcher will be in charge of developing a new research direction with clear prospects of establishing an own line of academic activity in synergy with our environment.
All early-stage researchers recruited into the WISE program will be a part of the WISE Graduate School
https://wise-materials.org/research/graduate-school/, an ambitious nationwide program of seminars, courses, research visits, and other activities to promote a strong multi-disciplinary and international network between PhD students, postdocs, researchers and industry.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
Qualifications
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree - such as taking statutory leave - then these may be taken into consideration.
We are seeking applicants who have a doctoral degree in Physics, Materials Science and knowledge and practical experience in MOCVD of group-III Nitrides. Additionally experience in structural or/and electrical characterization of III-Nitride materials and device structures is considered as an advantage.
You must have excellent English communication skills; verbal communication skills are required for efficient interaction with colleagues and collaborators, and written communication skills are required for dissemination of your research results. You should moreover be able to work independently and in teams. Most importantly, you should have strong passion in scientific research and be strongly motivated.
The workplace
You will be employed in the Unit of Semiconductor Device Materials at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, IFM. The unit is working on the development of novel semiconductor materials for high-frequency and power electronics. The research also focuses on developing spectroscopic techniques for studying electronic and transport properties of materials from bulk to nanoscale. Research on group-III Nitrides for applications in the next generation of wireless communication, sensing and power infrastructures is a central part of the unit activities. The unit also leads a large national platform - the Swedish Competence Center for III-Nitride Technology, C3NiT (www.c3nit.se) where we work closely with industrial partners Ericsson, Saab, Volvo cars, Hitachi Energy, SweGaN etc. on developing and implementing next generation III-Nitride technology. The environment combines scientific excellence and industrial relevance through the entire supply chain and addresses societal challenges, such as sustainability.
The employment
This post is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The position as a postdoc is full-time.
