PhD student position in health care sciences - The significance of the physical environment
Diary id: PAR 2017/86. Project title: The significance of the physical environment for care and rehabilitation in special housing for young persons. Job assignments: Are you interested in research issues concerning the importance of the physical environment for the care and rehabilitation of young persons living in special housings for young persons with social problems? Do you want to be part of an interdisciplinary research group with high scientific expertise? The overall objective of the project is to increase the knowledge of the importance of the physical environment for the rehabilitation of young persons cared for in special housing. The aim of the special housing is to care for and rehabilitate young people with serious social problems. The task of the care in special housing is twofold, that is both to guard and nurture, with a special demand on the physical environmental design. The research questions are: . Does the physical environment has any impact on the young persons ' well-being? . How do young people perceive the physical environment? . What factors in the physical environment are important for the young persons ' opportunities to perform activities? . Facilitates or hinder the physical environment the interaction between the young person and staff? . Is there any relation between the physical environmental design and outcome measures related to rehabilitation? The project has a "mixed method design" where both qualitative and quantitative studies are included. Study I is a registry study that aims to map outcomes of rehabilitative efforts related to characteristics of the design of the physical environment in the special housings. Study II is a qualitative study considering young people's experiences of the physical environment, examined with photo-voice technique. Study III is an observational study that aims to study the physical environment and the interaction between the young persons ' themselves and between them and the staff. Study IV aims to develop an audit tool based on the results from studies I-III in order to evaluate the quality of the physical environment in the special housings.
