• Implement and coordinate the "Peacefinders: Youth Leading for the Global Goals" project according to plan.
• Organise targeted workshops and skills training for young people in Sweden, particularly on the selected university campuses. Plan and organise other events as outlined in the project description.
• Coordinate cooperation between the project and other LPI programmes in Africa as well as the Global Policy Team.
• Manage the relations to partners in the projects, collaborators, experts and other support functions to the project initiatives.
• Participate in and contribute to various policy meetings/debates and fora in Sweden focusing on the Global Goals/UNSC 2250/peacebuilding/youth leadership.
• Communicate and promote the project and its various initiatives vis-à-vis the target groups, youth, policy makers and the general public.
• Lead the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning efforts of the project with the support of the supervisor and the Knowledge and Learning Unit.
• Track project activities and expenditures and regularly monitor the budget versus actual spending, in collaboration with the Finance & Admin team and the Supervisor.
The Peacefinders Project Officer will report to the Head of Swedish Programme.
Master's degree in Political Science, Communications, Peacebuilding, Policy and Public Affairs, or Conflict Studies.
• Solid understanding and practical experience from peacebuilding, or development cooperation.
• Experience of working with youth and students in Sweden and good knowledge on the Global Goals and the Youth, Peace and Security agenda. Established connections to Swedish actors and networks working on the Global Goals.
• Practical experience from event organising, policy, advocacy, awareness-raising, and communications work. Ability to manage relationships with partners.
• Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate/manage policy and/or awareness-raising
campaigns. Excellent fundraising proposal and report writing and design skills.
• Experience of expenditure tracking and budget monitoring.
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team and under stress. Ability to work in a multi-cultural team.
• Ability to work in Sweden and to travel regularly within Sweden, and periodically to Africa.
• Fluent in Swedish and English.
• A valid work permit or residential status that enables work in Sweden are essential for this position.

LPI has been active in making contributions towards achieving this goal since 1985. LPI works with a variety of local and regional partners mainly in the Horn of Africa region, such as Somalia, Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia. In 2018 LPI expanded to develop new engagements in Sweden and in Global Policy.
Varaktighet, arbetstid
The contract is for a 100% position, subject to funding. This employment is initially for one year, with possible renewal for another year. The role is based in Uppsala and involves regular travel in Sweden, and periodic travel to Africa.
