hela Sverige The Utilities & Test Stands Section at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a "Mechanical Technician for Water Cooling Systems".
Description of section
The Utilities & Test Stands Section within the Specialized Technical Services Group works alongside other groups in the Accelerator Division to design, install, and finally operate and maintain the accelerator cooling water, electrical systems and test stands at ESS. The group is also responsible for the design of water-cooling systems for the Neutron Instruments Division.
Main responsibilities
The person will be mainly performing mechanical work, such as minor installations and operation of cooling water systems. Other important tasks are commissioning activities, and maintenance. There are also opportunities to work as installation supervisor, and to support the design engineers. Specialised training will be provided as required.
Qualifications
A key feature is a positive attitude and an interest to interact with colleagues of many different backgrounds and expertise. As technician you will have day-to-day interactions with technicians, engineers, and scientists from other groups within the accelerator division so a general technical interest and eagerness to learn will be appreciated.
Practical experience from mechanical installations or maintenance from any type of process system is required, for example process plants, water treatment plants or oil & gas industry. It is an advantage if you have had some contact with suppliers of valves, hoses and other process related equipment.
Experience in operation of process systems is an advantage but with the correct mind set and personality the successful candidate will be able to learn these tasks.
It is expected that during commissioning, early operations and later in maintenance periods occasional shift work (including nights and weekends) is required. In the normal operation phase scheduled on-call service but no permanent physical presence at site is foreseen during off-business hours.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
