Role Summary/Purpose:
As Packaging engineer you will provide packaging expertise for product protection and efficient transport and delivery. You will improve customer satisfaction by identifying manufacturing issues, develope cost-effective solution and ensure successful implementation into production.
You will be part of the 18 people design team executing maintenance projects and New Product Introductions. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving current packaging and transportation systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
Providing packaging expertise for product protection and efficient transport & delivery
Design efficient packaging solutions
Work with Production Associates to resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.
Ensuring regulatory compliance through Validation & Verification. Responsible for determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.
Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner
Troubleshoot production and packaging equipment and provide technical support where needed
Driving LEAN implementation

Qualifications/Requirements
B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree and 1 year experience or Associates Degree and 3 years? experience or High School diploma with 5 years of experience in production, engineering or troubleshooting of PC/server based systems
Expertise in packaging engineering for small and large industrial products, especially related to shock, vibration and environmental protection for electronic products
Knowledge of the global transport environment for surface, air and ocean distribution
Knowledge of global material handling equipment and practices for large products
Knowledge of global hazardous material shipping regulations
Strong analysis capability with financial data to develop cost reduction business cases
Good computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Ability to communicate in English
Desired Characteristics:
BS or MS degree in Packaging Engineering or a related Engineering field
Minimum of 3 years experience in packaging of large, heavy electronic products
Experience with shipping dollies and other material handling equipment
Experience with shock & vibration testing to ASTM D4169 and/or ISTA standards
Certification for shipping hazardous materials by Surface (49 CFR), Air (IATA) and Ocean (IMDG)
Experience with packaging related global environmental regulations
Ability to CAD model package designs and create Engineering drawings
