1 Licentiate in the research education subject: Food Science
Food Oil Formulation for Potential Health Benefits
The proposed research project is aimed to combine beneficial health effects of phytosterols and diacylglycerol oil against atherosclerosis and obesity. New vegetable oil blends dominated with health promoting fatty acids and enriched with phytosterols and antioxidants, will be produced in lab-scale and be tested for their stability and suitability for different food applications. The obtained knowledge will be used in development of novel foods and functional foods. The results will be relevant for the food industry as well as for the consumers both for economy and health benefits.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position should have a MSc in Food Science or related fields. Laboratory work experience in preparative chromatography, analysis using TLC, SPE, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and very good communication and writing skills in English are required. Ability to work both independently and with other researchers, excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities, research interest in chemical and analytical works, are highly preferable. In addition, the successful candidate would be able to conduct and plan laboratory experiments, data analysis and interpret results, take own initiatives, developing new and/or improving methodologies. Some practical experience in chemical synthesis would be considered as an additional merit.

Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 180 Higher education credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
