Swedwood’s primary task is to ensure production capacity for IKEA. This is accomplished by establishing and operating sawmills component and furniture production units strategically located relative markets and/or raw materials supply. Swedwood has about 40 production units and offices in three continents and has some 15 000 employees.
Lean Production Navigators
Swedwood has started a transformation program to accelerate the implementation of the lean production concept SWOP (Swedwood Way Of Production). The program is planned to be rolled out across the Business Sectors where best practices in performance management, operations and way of working will be implemented on the shop floor as well as in the rest of the organization. The program is driven by a group of change agents in collaboration with management team, shop floor personnel and support functions. To the Business Sectors Flat Line and Solid Wood we now look for more Lean Production Navigators.
About the job
Your responsibility will be to lead and drive transformation processes in a local factory for a period of at least four months from “top to bottomâ€. You will lead demanding projects in our sites across the network and help designing and implementing future operations in Swedwood factories.
After a 4-12 months period you will be the expert that drives transformation projects aiming at implementing the best practices principles and improving performance in our factories.
This involves:
• To drive shop-floor transformation
• To train operators and managers in transformation approach, tools and standards
• To implement necessary support structures to ensure sustainability e.g. performance management and organization
• To coach and challenge senior operational managers through a demanding change process
The positions are organized in Business Sector Solid Wood or Flat Line and will require lots of traveling. You report to SWOP Manager within your Business Sector. After 2-3 successful years within the navigator group, you will be in a pool for recruitment of Plant Managers, Production Managers or similar. However, there are career possibilities also within the navigator group.
Your background
To apply, you should have successful experience as manager in a factory management team. You have good knowledge of Lean Production and you know how to use tools as for example S.M.E.D. and Value Stream Mapping. Experiences from wood industry or other process industry is a merit. You have an education base at B.Sc level or equivalent.
As an individual you have good leadership skills and you are a good communicator. You have a high drive, perseverance and good analytical skills and you have an interest in and drive for future career development. A good command of English is of course a must. For the positions within Flat Line you need good language skills also in Swedish and for the positions within Solid Wood skills in Russian is a big plus.
