Connected, electric, highly-automated and autonomous vehicles are making their way into our lives, and it's happening fast! Nevertheless, this paradigm shift in the automotive industry introduces new security and safety challenges that used to be more associated with "IT Security" and "Aviation Safety", respectively. This is where the Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Group comes into the picture not only to strengthen prevailing safety expertise and culture but also to address contemporary security and safety risks of electrical and/or electronic systems of vehicles and transport solutions.
About the position*We are aiming for strengthening our functional safety team with your personal touch in defining our future direction. Responsibilities of this position rely on your in-depth knowledge in functional safety and hands-on experience of dealing with relevant technical challenges to be able to "Challenge the Impossible!".
• You contribute as a technical leader in the area of functional safety. You identify functional safety requirements of our products as well as propose and specify technical concepts and solutions to meet the requirements. You work actively in defining and reviewing functional and technical safety concepts for next-generation electrical and software architecture. Furthermore, there are possibilities of participating in research, technology development, advance engineering and standardization activities in functional safety.
• You contribute to the implementation and follow-up of ISO 26262 compliance in terms of processes, methods and tools. You support engineers for ISO 26262 specific activities such as hazard analysis and risk assessment. Last but not least, typical responsibilities of this position include development, deployment and maintenance of ISO 26262 related guidelines, templates and instructions.

Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Group is the center of excellence and expertise in product cybersecurity and functional safety within Volvo Group Trucks Technology. The recently formed group now consists of 10 technical specialists, experts and rookies in cybersecurity and functional safety.

Required qualifications
• M.Sc. Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering/Mechatronics/Automation or other relevant technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Experience of working with functional safety and relevant standards (for example, ISO 26262), including relevant processes, methods and tools
• Sound knowledge of system and software engineering, including robust and reliable system/software design principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Beneficial qualifications
• It is meritorious to have one or more of the following:
• Experience of working with real-time and safety-relevant embedded systems
• In-depth understanding of ISO 26262 or equivalent functional safety standard
• Experience of working with functional safety technical concepts and safety mechanisms
