Lead Application Engineer

The Lead Application Engineer is part of the engineering service within the RD&E organisation of the EUSA Operating Unit. The Lead Application Engineer is managing the overall development and validation work linked to one or several projects that are related to one major customer or customer platform. The work includes leading the product definition and the engineering planning towards said customer. The Lead Engineer will manage functionally, when agreed with the RD&E Director, the application engineers assigned to his/ her customer platform.

In addition to project-related work, the Lead Application Engineer drives and supports technical productivity-, standardization- and various department activities.

Job description

As Lead Applications Engineer, you will be the technical point of contact for one or more of our products. You will use engineering tools, standardized work methodology, and the support of competent colleagues to ensure that the products we develop meet the customer requirements. You will initiate, define, and drive continuous product improvements to secure competitiveness.

Some of the tasks and responsibilities you can expect in this role include:

• Lead the product strategy within the customer platform.
• Be the customers' technical interface.
• Lead technical meetings with customers and suppliers.
• Perform technical quote presentations to customer.
• Determine specifications and minimum testing requirements.
• Manage the design, development, and validation of the product/ product standards to respect customer specifications, supplier demands and TitanX internal requirements (QCD frames)
• Manage and in some cases perform calculations/simulations (thermal performance, FEA, CFD...).
• Develop, deliver, and implement the necessary reliability tools, such as Lessons Learned, DFMEA, Functional Analysis, DVP&R and Design Reviews.
• Support the development of the Technology Development Plan with customer specific input.

Your profile

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have at least five years of experience in a similar position where technical understanding, problem-solving, and the design of mechanical products/components are key. If you have also worked according to IATF16949, we will be especially happy. We believe that your genuine technical interest led you to pursue higher education in engineering or a related field. You are fluent in English and have good communication skills.

Others describe you as a skilled problem-solver who takes responsibility for your tasks. Your current colleagues also appreciate your ability to maintain clarity in complex projects.

We also believe that you are comfortable with and enjoy:

• Feeling ownership of activities and therefore taking responsibility for driving projects forward
• Close collaboration with multiple functions.

In addition, we expect you to have experience with:

• Minimum Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. At least 5 years' experience in the field.
• Knowledge in especially design, thermodynamics, heat-transfer, and structural strength
• Proven computer skills, especially CATIA V5 and MS Office
• Communicates fluently in English, both in speech and in writing. Swedish and/ or German are a plus.
